American-Indonesian Cultural & Educational Foundation, Inc.
Founded in 1971, the American-Indonesian Cultural & Educational Foundation, Inc. (AICEF) is a New York City based 501c3 not-for-profit corporation devoted to fostering closer cultural and educational ties between the people of the United States and the Republic of Indonesia.
When Indonesia became an independent nation in 1949 it had less than 200 people who had earned a PhD degree. AICEF was established to fund Indonesians citizens studying in the US at the PhD level who would return to participate in building the nation and conduct critical research needed to inform business and government.
As part of our mission to bridge the cultural gap between The United States and Indonesia, we also support performances, exhibitions, films, and symposiums that foster an understanding of Indonesia in the US.
